The spatial distribution of the surface temperature single and multi-section slotted semiconductor laser diodes with gratings is investigated experimentally CCD-thermoreflectance imaging. lasers are frequency devices, operating at approximately 1550 nm. High resolution maps ridge obtained, near 1 µm. profile in direction lateral to presented a rapid decay away from observed. Acquisition takes about 8 minutes, three required for 400 µm device. rise shown be linear power consumed by diode. along uniform within section laser. thermal impedance various sections were determined.
